Mayor Bob Chiarelli Declares Aug 24 "Volunteer Day"

We still have a few hours left to celebrate!

Volunteer Ottawa Day
August 24, 2005

“ WHEREAS, for 50 years Volunteer Ottawa has been a critical link between
volunteer energy and community need through its promotion of volunteerism to
individuals, groups, workplaces and schools; and

WHEREAS, the City of Ottawa has supported volunteer involvement through
Volunteer Ottawa since 1955; and

WHEREAS, the City of Ottawa is proud to be a city where community
involvement is encouraged and civic responsibility is gladly shouldered; a
city where not-for-profit organizations and public institutions build their
capacity to engage volunteers successfully; and a city that embodies the
spirit of community;

THEREFORE, I, Bob Chiarelli, Mayor of the City of Ottawa, do hereby proclaim
August 24th as Volunteer Ottawa Day in the City of Ottawa, in recognition of
our common goal of investing in our community to ensure that it continues to
grow and prosper.”
